Epoxy Resin
Some of our products may contain epoxy resin. Epoxy is a great material because of its versatility and durability. We use epoxy to coat outdoor signs to protect them from the weather. It can also be used as a design element in cutting boards and other projects.Â
Caring for Epoxy Coatings
While epoxy is extremely durable, it is not indestructible. Avoid dropping heavy objects on the surface, which can cause chips and cracks.Â
Avoid placing hot objects, like baking pots directly on epoxy-treated surfaces.
Over time, especially with clear epoxy, it may start to appear cloudy from tiny surface scratches. The surface can be renewed by using high grit sandpaper (6,000-8,000) and a little bit of water, called wet sanding.
MDF
We use MDF (medium-density fiberboard) in many of our signs and other products. More than likely, you have a variety of MDF products in your home already. It is a durable and inexpensive alternative to plywood.
Caring for MDF
MDF is moisture-resistant, but exposure to even small amounts of water can cause problems. As a general rule, do not get MDF wet or expose it to the outdoors (unless coated with another product, like epoxy).
Clean surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cotton cloth. DO NOT use heavy abrasives.
Wipe up spills immediately with an absorbent cloth. Any stains left behind can be treated with a damp cloth and mild detergent (like dishwashing soap).
