While the true beginnings started years prior, the brand Iron & Branch was officially founded on January 1st 2017.
Our founder first began woodworking when he wanted to create a custom bunk bed for his son’s bedroom. Over the next few years, he spent his evenings after his day job building new designs and honing his craft. He had spent over ten years in web design and marketing, but found that it lacked soul. He wanted to create something tangible, not just pixels on a screen. Building the Iron & Branch brand offered an opportunity to bring passions of woodworking, photography, and writing together.
We’re not Ikea. We don’t do chipboard or plastic. We do one-of-a-kind wood projects that celebrate the noble trees from whence they came, are full of personality, and built to last several lifetimes.
Our work draws inspiration from the Arts & Crafts movement, which stood for traditional craftsmanship and simplistic design. John Ruskin, Gustav Stickley, William Morris, James Krenov, as well as architects Greene & Greene and Frank Lloyd Wright have all helped shape our creative vision.
We continue to learn from modern masters like Christopher Schwarz, Roy Underhill, and Paul Sellers.
